The track "What Are You, Mother?" explores a shifting view of motherhood, reproduction, and humanity. Drawing primarily on an analysis of Ridley Scott's film "Alien" and Hortense Spillers text, “Mama’s Baby, Papa’s Maybe," I attempted to assume the perspective of the "alien" or "mutant" mother's offspring, and explore what we would call the "unnatural" sides of nature.
lyrics
"Mother alien, I'm far from man
the chest is broken, no I'm not a man
my shell of flesh burst and torn
emerging forth a parasitic bastard born
oh, unearthly mother
my God, my father
he struggles now to stand
microscopic bodies
mutant slapdash bodies
rip apart our sacred bodies
tear us out of the machine
